Maick Mutej was a refugee who lost his family in the war in DRC and fled to Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi. He lost everything, yet felt his calling to help his fellow refugees and partnered with the NGO, Fraternity without Borders, to start a school for refugee children providing education, nutrition, and agriculture training. The project is named Ubuntu Nation from the Ubuntu philosophy, “I am because we are,” which considers the other before oneself.
The Ubuntu Nation project has impacted more 15,000 people to date since the project was establishment in 2018, including:
3,287 Students and Volunteers

“Ubuntu Nation is a nation without discrimination. A nation that gives opportunity to everyone. A nation that welcomes anyone, whatever language or color.
It is a nation that is putting aside our differences and making us see what we have in common. It is a nation that accepts everyone and makes us one as human beings."
